Teethers are not critical for a baby's dental growth though it helps soothe the
discomfort. The babies nibble where the molars are. It is a natural way of
working on the muscles they need for future eating. If you need a teether to
ease the discomfort or entertain, ensure that it is free from the chemical
"bisphenol-A" and solid enough that it does not crack or break. A clean cold
washcloth or gauge would help equally as a teether would.
