Medicines for children are usually sugary & flavoured and hence a special oral and dental care is required if the child is on medication. Not just the teeth but also the tongue needs to be properly cleaned as a curd-like white layer is formed on the tongue. Antibiotics and some asthma medications can cause an overgrowth of yeast, which can lead to a fungal infection called oral thrush. Hence, special oral and dental care when the child is taking medicine. Brush teeth twice a day, use tongue cleaners or soft cotton soaked in warm water to clean the tongue and mouth.
