There was once a small village, which was suffering from a severe drought. The crops were dying, and the villagers and their animals had very little water to drink.One day, to try to find a solution to the drought, the village chief called the villagers to gather at the village square to pray together for rain. He told them to bring along a token of their faith, so the prayer would be done in sincere faith. And so, the villagers gathered at the square bringing with them tokens of their faith. Some brought the Holy book while others carried photos of God as tokens of faith. They all prayed aloud with great faith and hope.Sure enough, within a few moments it began to rain. The whole crowd was overjoyed and danced happily. The chief noticed that among the joyous crowd was a nine-year-old boy, clutching an umbrella as a token of faith. The chief admired this little boy, who had brought an umbrella in total faith that the Lord would surely hear his prayers and send rain.Moral: Nothing is impossible for one who has total faith in God.

Faith of a Child

Once upon a time there was a little kid. He had to attend his school which was far away from his home. In order to reach there, he had to cover a long distance by walking. He also had to cross the forest which came on his way. The kid was afraid to cross the forest as he was alone. So, one day he spoke to his mom about his fear.His mother wanted him to overcome his fear. So, she told him that he had a cousin named Kanha, who herds cattle in the forest. She told him to shout his name and cross the forest without any fear.The next day when the kid was crossing the forest, he shouted Kanha with the hope that he would come to help him. Suddenly, a boy appeared before him and said his name was Kanha. He walked with him until they reached at the end of the forest.Every day after that, the boy would shout Kanha, and he would come to help him cross the forest. After some time, the boy became fearless. One day his mother asked the boy about his fear. The boy described the whole story to his mom.The mother was truly surprised after hearing the story. She eventually discovered that the boy who was accompanying her son was actually Lord Krishna. The mother realized that Lord Krishna helped her son in crossing the forest. This was possible because of his unwavering faith. Moral:Nothing is impossible for someone who has actual faith in God. God can help us in our difficult times and could give us strength.

A man went to a barber shop to have his hair cut and as the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation.They eventually touched on the subject of God; the barber said, “I don’t believe that God exists.”“Why do you say that?” asked the customer. “If God existed, would there be so many problems in the world?” The barber said.The customer thought for a moment, but didn’t respond because he didn’t want to start an argument.The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop. Just after he left the barber shop, he saw a man in the street with long, dirty hair.The customer returned and told the barber “You know what? Barbers do not exist. “How can you say that?” asked the barber.“I am here,and I am a barber. And I just cut your hair!”“No!” The customer said, “Barbers don’t exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside.”“But barbers do exist.” The barber argued, “ I can’t do anything if people do not come to me.” “Exactly!” The customer said, “God exists too.” Moral:Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs. There is no point in putting down others' beliefs because of your own.

Once upon a time, there was a girl named Sophie who truly believed in Santa Claus, but the other kids didn’t and were always telling her not to believe because he was not real.They were always trying to discourage her so that she would stop believing in him. That year, on the 24th of December, Santa Claus arrived. Even those who didn’t believe in him, saw him and he gave them what they wanted for Christmas.From that moment, the kids always believed in Santa Claus. They knew he was magic and that he gave toys to all the children in the world. They all agreed it was the best Christmas ever and have always enjoyed Christmas since then.They asked their friend Sophie for forgiveness because they tried to take away her faith in Santa Claus. After that, God decided to create humans. So, God took some clay from the ground and made the shape of a man. Then, God gave life to the man. Soon, the man opened his eyes and saw heaven. God named the first man ‘Adam’.The lord made a beautiful garden, The Garden of Eden for Adam to live in. The Garden of Eden was full of wonderful things. Beautiful flowers grew everywhere, birds sang, streams flowed through the valley and animals roamed across the fields. God soon saw that Adam was lonely and needed some company. So, he took a rib from Adam and created a beautiful woman. He called her ‘Eve’. Now, Adam and Eve were happy in their beautiful home. They had everything they ever needed. Every beautiful creation of God was theirs. But God restricted them from eating the fruit from a tree in the middle of the garden. That was the tree of knowledge.One day, Adam and Eve were gathering berries for dinner. Eve heard a silky voice behind her. Eve turned around and saw a snake. He tempted her to eat the fruit of knowledge. He said that the fruit will not do any harm to her. The snake said, “God knows that if you eat from the Tree of knowledge you will become just like God.” Eve was tempted by the lovely fruit and thought how wonderful it would be to be as wise and powerful as God. She believed the snake’s lie and ate the fruit. She gave some to Adam as well.Soon, everything changed. Adam and Eve were no longer happy and carefree souls. God was very sad that his children had disobeyed him. But he could not stop the consequences. So, he told them ‘Now you’ll have to suffer. You’ll have to earn your living and live in pain. Nothing will come easy for you. And one day you’ll die.” Moral:Not following the rules of nature and God can have severe consequences. Have faith that what He has planned is for the best.

Once a saint had a disciple who used to live in a small town. One day, the disciple was going somewhere. He hadn't gone too far when suddenly it started raining cats and dogs. He returned and told this problem to his saint. The saint said, "You should have faith in God. He will save you from all problems."The disciple obeyed and resumed his journey. He kept reciting the name of God and cleared all the hurdles.Next day, the saint had to go on the same route. When he reach ed a deep drain, he doubted whether God would save him or not. Just when the saint had started walking again, he drowned in the deep drain. Moral:Faith in God and Doubt on God never go hand in hand.

Among them was a woman who was bleeding for twelve years. She thought she would only be healed by the Lord. She was afraid that perhaps Jesus was angry as she wished to touch his garments to heal herself, but Jesus was pleased with her. He said to her “Not me, but your faith has made you well.” When Jesus reached the home of the ruler, He took the young girl by the hand, and she got up, alive and well. This way Jesus healed everybody with his love and care. Moral:Miracles through Jesus are possible, all you have to do is have faith.

Jesus Always Healed People

Lord Mahavira was the twenty-fourth and last Jain Tirthankara according to the Jain philosophy. A Tirthankara is an enlightened soul who is born as a human being and attains perfection through intense meditation. For a Jain, Lord Mahavira is no less than God.Lord Mahavir invested twelve years in silence and penance with great success.At the beginning of his asceticism (person who does not involve in anything other than meditation), he met a cowherd who left his oxen in the care of Lord Mahavir. The cowherd went to the village and came back a bit later. The oxen had drifted away while grazing. Not being able to find his oxen, he asked, "Ascetic, where are my oxen?"Mahavir was in deep meditation and unaware of all this. The cowherd asked again and again but he did not get any response. He was irritated and shouted, “You hypocrite! Are you deaf, don’t you hear anything?”Mahavir still did not respond. “You pretender, it seems that both your ears are useless. I will fix your ears.” He took long nails like thorns from a nearby and pierced the ears by hammering the thorns in.Even such an incident did not annoy Mahavir from his meditation; neither did it evoke any feelings of anger or hatred in him.

They followed God’s direction and to search for the King of Jews. The kings travelled all their way on the camel over mountains, deserts and over white open plains. They followed the star to find the child who would become the king of Jews. They believed that the star was God’s sign to give them direction.The wise men reached Bethlehem and the star disappeared. They were outside the palace of King Herod. They went to King Herod to ask about the child that was born. King Herod was afraid he would lose his kingdom so he said, “Tell me when you find this child so that I can also honour him.” The wise men were disappointed and did not know where to find the child. They again saw the star in the sky and started following it. They kept following the star and the star disappeared when they reached their destination. The wise men were overwhelmed. They were outside the house. They went inside and saw a little child in Mary’s lap. The child was born to Mary and Joseph. The wise men knew that the child was Jesus, son of God so they knelt down in front of him. They came with valuable gifts for their Lord. They offered God with precious gold and valuable gifts. When they left the house, they did not go back to King Herod because they were warned in their dream not to do that. They travelled back to their homes. One night, Joseph, the father of the child saw an angel in his dream. The angel warned him in the dream, “Hurry to Egypt and save the child. King Herod wants to kill the child and the Lord needs to be saved.”So, Joseph and Mary immediately left for Egypt along with Jesus. After many years, when King Herod died, the angel again came to Joseph’s dream and said, “You can go back to Bethlehem with Jesus, it is safe now.” Soon, they went back to Bethlehem and lived there happily. That is the place where Jesus grew up.Moral:Have faith that God always plans things for the greater good.
