His wish was granted.Extremely excited, Midas went home to his wife and daughter touching pebbles, rocks, and plants on the way, which turned into gold.As his daughter hugged him, she turned into a golden statue.Having learnt his lesson, Midas begged the Satyr to reverse the spell who granted that everything would go back to their original state.Moral of the story: Stay content and grateful for what you have. He told them that the thief’s stick would grow two inches by the next day.The next day, Birbal summoned the servants again. He noticed that a servant’s stick was two inches shorter than the others.He knew who the thief was.The foolish thief had cut the stick shorter by two inches as he thought it would grow two inches. Thus, proving his guilt.Moral of the story: Truth and justice will always prevail. <h3>4. But keep falling back.Soon, one of the two frogs started to believe the other frogs — that they’ll never be able to escape the pit and eventually died after giving up.The other frog keeps trying and eventually jumps so high that he escapes the pit. The other frogs were shocked at this and wondered how he did it.The difference was that the second frog was deaf and couldn’t hear the discouragement of the group. When Krishna grew up, he saw milk, curds, and butter all around in Gokula, the land of 'Gopalas' or cowherds (a person who tends to cows). He was always showered upon by the love by Gopis. He had watched them clean the greasy vessels using mud after they were emptied of the butter and always wondered if his stomach also needed to be similarly cleaned.He sat and started to put mud into his mouth and started eating it. His brother, Balarama, and other children around saw this strange sight and demanded to know what he had in the mouth. His mouth was filled with mud so he couldn’t say anything.His brothers took him to Yashoda. He kept shaking his head when Yashoda asked him if he had eaten more butter. Angrily, she took a stick and asked for his mouth to be opened. Krishna opened his mouth wide open, and Yashoda was unable to believe her eyes! What she saw was the entire universe, with Gokula in clear detail, and a glimpse of herself before the Krishna child.She closed her eyes to clear her own head and saw the little fellow seated in front of her as if nothing had occurred. That was when she discovered that he wasn't a regular baby. However, the innocent and amused look of Krishna made her keep this discovery to herself.

Yashoda Discovers about Krishna

Krishna’s childhood was filled with adventurous stories. Though filled with joy, each episode of his childhood shows one spiritual dimension or the other.Gokula was a land with pure cowherds (a person who tends to cows), the men were named 'Gopalas' and the girls were called 'Gopis'. Krishna was about three months old when his mother brought him to the place where people gathered for a festival with their relatives.Yashoda and other people had to prepare the afternoon meal and she left the sleeping child in the shade of a bullock cart. The food was consumed, people were busy with the music. Krishna woke up to the sounds of music while sleeping soundly.Playfully, wanting to join the party, the kid began to move his feet to the beat and pushed the cart's wheel. The cart fell with a thud, and everyone was surprised by the sound, and they ran to the place hoping for the worst. Together they raised the collapsed cart and were overjoyed to see the boy, appearing as happy as ever, and completely unharmed by the crash.&nbsp;That was indeed the first confirmation of his heavenly abilities, but this fact was not known by everyone around at that moment, but rather played off as a miraculous escape.

Krishna’s Childhood

Krishna was born in the small town of Mathura, governed by a very ruthless King Kamsa — a man so full of evil that he had imprisoned his own father to take the throne. On the day of his marriage, a divine voice prophesied the demise of Kamsa by the hands of eighth child of Devaki and Vasudeva. Devaki was Kamsa’s sister. He did not want to take any risk so he imprisoned the couple and destroyed their babies one by one as they were born.Devaki and Vasudeva succeeded in saving their seventh son as he was miraculously moved to Rohini’s womb, Vasudeva’s second wife. He was Krishna's elder brother Balarama. The eighth child was born on a moonless night. Thunder, lightning, and violent storms witnessed his birth. Immediately after, as if by the miracle, Vasudeva found the locked gates open up and the guards deep asleep.Guided by a Divine voice, Vasudeva held the infant over his head in a basket and crossed Yamuna river to the Gokula house of Nanda. When Vasudeva walked in, the stormy river calmed down and the new born was kept dry and covered from rain by a huge serpent hood trailing him!Vasudeva put his son near Nanda and Yashoda at Nanda's palace. He took their new born girl back to Kamsa's prison. Once Kamsa came to know about Devaki's born child, he thundered into the jail and tried to aggressively grab the infant.The infant escaped from his hold and the baby transformed into Goddess Durga in a blinding flash of light, declaring to Kamsa that the eighth child was indeed healthy and that his death was inevitable.

Krishna’s Birth

Krishna grew up to be about six years old and had become so heavy in his fondness of butter that he would team up with his friends whenever he could to get the creamy goodness.Due to this, Gopis would hang the pots of the butter high up from the ceiling so that Krishna and his friends could not catch the pot. Krishna, Balarama- his elder brother and other kids would remove the roof tiles for entry to the containers to touch the bowl. They would go up on each other's back at other moments, creating a human ladder.If these tricks did not work, they would throw stones and the pot would break and they all would stand below it with open mouths. At times, the pot would crash down the floor and they would just sit on the floor and eat the butter.All the Gopis knew who the main culprit was. Thus, they all went to Yashoda to complain about Krishna. Yashoda felt very bad and apologized. Yashoda scolded Krishna and restricted him from playing with his friends for a few days.Krishna was very angry and decided to teach a lesson to Gopis for complaining to his mother. He stole the clothes of Gopis from the bank of the river as they went to the river for a bath. Krishna agreed to return their clothes only if they agreed that they will stop complaining about him to his mother.However, the tale reached the ears of Yashoda and she decided to teach a lesson to Krishna by tying him to a strong big stone. Assuming that no one would come to release, little Krishna brought the strong and huge stone to the river where he thought that his mates would rescue him.He went through the forest along with the stone and suddenly it got stuck between the two large trees and the force was so strong that the trees fell above him. After some time Yashoda got the news and she went to look for him. She was shocked to see that even after the large trees fell above him, Krishna had not a single injury. It truly made her believe that his son was different and not ordinary.

Stealing of Butter

Significance: Many years ago, there lived a demon king named Hiranyakshayap. He was very powerful and considered himself a God. He wanted everybody to worship him. He had a son named Prahlad. His son worshiped Lord Vishnu and was a great follower of Vishnu. The king was very disturbed as his own son was not worshiping him. To get rid of his son, Hiranyakshayap asked his sister Holika to enter a blazing fire with Prahlad in her lap. She had a boon to never get burnt by fire. Prahlad in the fire chanted Lord Vishnu's name and prayed with utmost devotion. In the end, Prahlad was saved from the fire because of his extreme devotion. Holika was burned in the fire despite her boon because of her evil desire. The tradition of ‘HolikaDahan’ comes from this story. So, Holi is celebrated to cherish victory of good over evil. First Day: Holi The first day of the festival is celebrated as ‘HolikaDahan’. Bonfires of dried cow dung are lit by people in memory of the miraculous escape of Prahlad from the fire. People follow rituals of reciting various prayers around the bonfire and offering traditional sweets to the fire. Next-Day:Dhuleti The next day is called Dhuleti. People visit homes of relatives, friends, neighbours and play Holi with them. It is the festival of colours. People celebrate it by applying numerous colours on each other. People also play with water along with colours. On this day, people also drink a special drink which is called ‘Thandai’. Moral:The story signifies the victory of good over evil.
