He told them that the thief’s stick would grow two inches by the next day.The next day, Birbal summoned the servants again. He noticed that a servant’s stick was two inches shorter than the others.He knew who the thief was.The foolish thief had cut the stick shorter by two inches as he thought it would grow two inches. Once there was a village named Singapuram. There lived a carpenter named Kasi. He had a younger son who was five years old. His name was Vasu. Kasi’s father Ramu was too old and he also stayed with them in their house. Kasi began to think that his father is of no use to him since he became too old and was unable to do any work. Kasi always spoke angrily to his father. Ramu was old man and he remained silently whenever Kasi spoke in anger.One day, Kasi gave food in a clay plate for his father to eat. Being too old, Ramu was not able to hold the clay plate properly. He dropped it and the clay plate broke off. Kasi became very angry and scolded his father. Vasu observed his father’s behaviour towards his grandfather.The next day , Kasi gave a new clay plate to his father. He went to work. When he came back, he was angry to see the new clay plate broken into pieces. He scolded his father badly and warned him, “Hey old man, if you break the next clay plate, there will be no food for you and you will have to leave the house”. Vasu was listening to his father’s words silently.Next day, in the evening, when Kasi came back to home after his work, he saw his son Vasu doing some work with his carpentry tools. He was surprised to see this and happily went near him, and asked Vasu “ What are you doing my son?” Vasu replied “Dad, I am making a wooden plate for you. When you grow old, I will give you this wooden plate so that you will not break it and I do not have to send you out of the house”Kasi realized his mistake on hearing his son’s words. Once upon a time Sammy and his sister Marie visited their grandparents at their farm. Sammy picked up a slingshot to play with out in the woods. He practiced in the woods but he could never hit the target. Getting a little discouraged, he headed back for the lunch. As he was walking back he saw Grandma’s pet duck.Just out of impulse, he let the slingshot fly which hit the duck square in the head and killed it. He was shocked and grieved. In a panic, he hid the dead duck in the pile of woods. Marie had seen it all from the window but she said nothing. After the lunch, the next day Grandma said, “Marie, let’s wash the dishes.” Marie said,“But Grandma, Sammy told me he wanted to help in the kitchen.”Then she whispered to Sammy, “Remember the duck?” Sammy got nervous knowing his sister knew about the duck and if he doesn’t obey, she may tell his grandparents about it. So without saying anything, he did the dishes.Later that day, Grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing but Grandma said, “I’m sorry but I need Marie to help make a supper.” Marie just smiled and said, “Well that’s all right because Sammy told me he wanted to help.”She whispered again to Sammy, “Remember the duck?” So Marie went fishing and Sammy stayed to help. After several days of Marie taking advantage of Sammy, he finally couldn’t stand it any longer. He came to Grandma and confessed that he had killed the duck.Grandma knelt down, gave him a hug and said, “Sweetheart, I know. I was standing at the window and I saw the whole thing but because I love you, I forgave you. I was just wondering how long you would let Marie take advantage of you.” Moral:Always confess of your mistakes. It is Tim’s father’s birthday today and little Tim wants to surprise him with a gift. He knows that his father loves chocolate cake so Tim decides to bake his father a chocolate cake.&nbsp; He tells his mother about his idea and his mother agrees to help him.&nbsp; First they search the recipe for the cake. It looks a little tough but Tim figures that he can still give it a try. He goes with his grandfather to purchase the ingredients. They buy milk, eggs, flour and chocolate. When he returns home, Tim is very excited and so he runs to the kitchen with the ingredients.&nbsp; His mother says, “Slow down or else you will end up dropping everything.” He is embarrassed and smiles a little but then quickly gets to work. He dries the utensils that his mother washed and cleans them.&nbsp; Then he carefully listens as his mother instructs him.&nbsp; He measures and pours the flour, milk, sugar, eggs, and chocolate.Then when all the ingredients are mixed and the cake is put in the oven, Tim dances around the house, excitedly looking at the clock and waiting for his father to come home.&nbsp; When he does, Tim excitedly rushes to the kitchen to grab the cake that is now made. In his hurry, he forgot that the vessel was still hot and flinched at the touch. Tim dropped the cake. His mother immediately moved to help him and everyone fussed around to secure Tim. He felt very bad for not being able to do something good but his father looked at him and smiled. He said, “Thank you, son. Making this must have taken a lot of hard work. I am proud of you!” Tim shook his head and said, “But I dropped it and ruined it in the end.” His father laughed and said, “That is alright. It is not the gift, but the thought and emotions put into one that counts.”

Raj was a very impatient child.He could barely focus at one task before launching himself towards another.One day, while watching a television show, he decided that he wanted to be a wrestler. And even though the little boy was very enthusiastic, he could do hardly one thing before jumping onto another. But these rocks are so big? How can the sea break them down?”His grandfather smiled and watched as Raj lightly splashed around in the water, “It takes many years, it does not happen overnight. Just like you cannot become a wrestler overnight. You need to be disciplined in your work and be patient. There was once a boy called Mario who loved to have loads of friends. Because it's invisible it's rather tricky to sit on, but if you take it to school and you manage to sit on it, you'll activate its magic and you'll be able to tell who your real friends are.”Mario, brave and determined, took the strange invisible chair and set off for school. At break time he asked everyone to form a circle, and he put himself in the middle, with his chair. "Nobody move. You're about to see something amazing." And Mario attempted sitting on the chair. Having difficulty seeing it, he missed and fell straight onto his backside. Everyone had a pretty good laugh."Wait, wait, just a slight technical problem," he said, making another attempt. But again he missed the seat, causing more surprised looks, and a few cat calls. Mario wouldn't be beaten. He kept trying to sit on the magic chair, and kept falling to the ground... until, suddenly, he tried again and didn't fall. This time he sat, hovering in mid-air...Then it was that he finally experienced the magic that his grandfather had been talking about. Looking around, Mario saw George, Lucas, and Diana - three of his best friends - holding him up, so he wouldn't fall. Meanwhile, many others he had thought of as friends had done nothing but make fun of him, enjoying each and every fall. And there the show came to an end. Leaving with his three friends, he explained to them how his grandfather had so cleverly thought of a way to show him that true friends are those who care for us, and not just any acquaintance who happens to be passing by. Even less would a friend be someone who takes joy in our misfortunes.That evening the four children went to see Mario's grandpa to pay out the bet. They had a great time listening to stories, and eating popcorn until fit to burst. And, from then on, they used the magic chair test on quite a few occasions. And whoever passed it became friends for life. Moral:True friends stick with us through thick and thin.
