He told them that the thief’s stick would grow two inches by the next day.The next day, Birbal summoned the servants again. He noticed that a servant’s stick was two inches shorter than the others.He knew who the thief was.The foolish thief had cut the stick shorter by two inches as he thought it would grow two inches. Thus, proving his guilt.Moral of the story: Truth and justice will always prevail. <h3>4. The ball knew there were many balls just like him so he decided to search more balls that looked like him. He thought that it would be easy for him to find his home if he met a tennis ball.At first, he went to a basketball court and there he saw a huge ball. He knew that this was not his home. The ball was very big and was brown. The ball thought to himself, “This is not my home, I should look somewhere else”. So off he went.The lonely ball went ahead to search his home. Next, he went to a baseball field. The tennis ball saw a ball lying on the field. The ball was the same size as him but was white. The tennis ball thought, “I am yellow and the ball lying on the ground is white.” He knew it was not his home. He decided to look somewhere else.The ball then went to a football field. He saw the ball and was again disappointed. “This is not my home; the ball does not look like me,” he said. He was tired. It was evening already and the sun was about to set. It was not that Min had a big family. No, her family only included her mother, her father and herself. There was no need for a bigger house but Min always wanted a bigger house like all of her friends had.Her own house was pretty sufficient to meet her family’s needs but Min always just wanted to show off in front of her friends and have a bigger house. Sheconstantly whined about this to her parents and one day her wish came true when her mother got a promotion.Soon they moved to a house that had a huge garden, a treehouse and a lovely pink room for her. She was ecstatic.However soon after, despite all the luxury of the new house, it did not feel the same. She often found herself missing her old bedroom, her doodles on the walls of her old house, her mother’s cooking in the tiny kitchen.Now due to work, her parents were very busy and she did not get enough time with them.One day Min’s mother came home to see her crying and hurriedly went to calm her child. “What is wrong?” She calmly asked her little girl.Min sobbed, “Everything here is so new and I miss the old house. You and father are rarely home on time.” Her mother apologised for her absence and promised to make up for it.That weekend, Min planted saplings in the garden with her parents, decorated the treehouse, painted the walls of her room and baked cookies.Slowly, she came to love the new house just as much as she grew familiar with it and realised that it was never the amount of rooms in a house, the luxuries or the largeness of the house that mattered but the memories made and the love shared. Once there lived a mother pig with her three piglets. Mrs Pig was very tired and said to her children, “Oh dear! I can’t do all this work anymore, I’m afraid you must leave home and make your own way in the world”.So the three little pigs set off. After walking for a while, they met a man carrying a bundle of straw. “Excuse me” said the first little pig politely “would you please sell me some of your straw so I can make a house?” The man readily agreed and the first little pig went off to find a good place to build his house.The other little pigs continued to walk along the road when they met a man carrying a bundle of sticks. “Excuse me” said the second little pig politely “would you please sell me some sticks so I can build a house?” The man readily agreed and the little pig said goodbye to his brother. The third little pig didn’t like his brothers’ ideas so he kept walking. He thought to himself, “I’m going to build myself a much bigger, better, stronger house” and kept on down the road until he met a man with a cart load of bricks.“Excuse me” the third little pig said politely as his mother had taught him “Please can you sell me some bricks so I can build a house?” “Of course” said the man “where would you like me to unload them?” The third little pig looked around and saw a nice patch of ground under a tree, “Over there please” he pointed.All of the three pigs set to work and up until nightfall, the houses of straws and sticks were ready but the house of bricks was only just beginning to rise above the ground.&nbsp;The first and second little pigs laughed and thought that their brother was really silly to work so hard when they had already finished.However, a few days later the brick house was completed and looked very smart with shiny windows, a neat little chimney and a shiny knocker on the door.After a few nights, soon after they had settled in, a wolf was out looking for food. By the light of the moon he spotted the first little pig’s house of straw.&nbsp;He went up to the door and called, “Little pig, little pig, let me come in.” “No, no, by the hair of my chinny chin chin” replied the little pig. “Then I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house.” said the wolf who was a big, bad, greedy sort of wolf.And he huffed, and he puffed and blew the house in. The little pig ran away as fast as his he could and went straight to the second little pig’s house to hide.The next night the wolf was even hungrier and he saw the house of sticks. He walked up to the door and called, “Little pig, little pig, let me come in.” “Oh no, not by the hair on my chinny chin chin” said the second little pig as the first little pig hid trembling under the stairs. “Then I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house in” said the wolf.And he huffed, and he puffed and blew the house in. But the little pigs ran away as fast as they could and went to the third little pig’s house to hide.“What did I tell you?” said the third little pig “it’s important to build houses properly”. But he welcomed them in and they all settled down for the rest of the night.The following night the wolf was even hungrier and feeling bigger and badder than ever. Prowling around in hunger, he came to the third little pig’s house. He crept up to the door and called, “Little pig, little pig, let me come in.” “Oh no, not by the hair on my chinny chin chin” said the third little pig while the first and the second little pigs hid trembling under the stairs. “Then I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house in” said the wolf.And he huffed, and he puffed and he blew but nothing happened.&nbsp;So he huffed and he puffed and he blew again, even harder, but still nothing happened. The brick house stood firm.The wolf growled, “I’m going to eat all of you” he growled “you just wait and see”. He prowled round the house trying to find a way in. The little pigs trembled when they saw his big eyes peering through the window. Then they heard a scrambling sound.“Quick, quick” said the third little pig “he’s climbing the tree, I think he’s going to come down the chimney”.The three little pigs got the biggest pan they had, and filled it full of water and put it on the fire to boil. They could hear the sound of the wolf climbing the tree and then walking along the roof.The little pigs held their breath.&nbsp;The wolf was coming down the chimney.&nbsp;Nearer and nearer he came until, with a huge splash, he landed in the pan of water. “Yoweeeee!” he screamed and shot back up the chimney thinking his tail was on fire. The last the three little pigs saw of the big bad wolf was him flying over the treetops clutching a very sore tail.So, the three little pigs lived happily together ever after in their very smart house of bricks. Moral:Do not do things in hurry without much thought. Take time, think your way through and then act.

One day, Mulla Nasiruddin was talking to his neighbour. The neighbour was looking so miserable that Nasiruddin asked him what was bothering him. The man started to complain about the lack of space in his house and said, “It is such a small house, Mulla. And me, my wife, my three children and my mother-in-law–all have to live together in the same little cottage. It is very cramped and there is hardly any space to move around.” He asked Nasiruddin for some advice on how to deal with this problem.Nasiruddin said, “Do you keep chickens in the yard?” “Yes, ten of them,” replied the man. “Good. Bring them inside the house and keep them there,” said Nasiruddin. “But, Mulla!” the man exclaimed. “My house is already overcrowded.” “Just do as I say,” Nasiruddin replied.The man was really very troubled and wanted to find a solution to his problem. He decided to give the Mulla’s advice a try. So the man went home and brought all the chickens into the house. Next day, he went to meet Nasiruddin again. He said, “Mulla, I followed your advice and took the chickens into the house. But it did not solve anything. In fact, it has made matters worse. My house is even more cramped now.“I see,” said Nasiruddin. ” Now take your donkey and keep it inside your house. The man did not think much of this idea but Nasiruddin managed to convince him to do it.The next day, the man came to Nasiruddin, looking very distressed, and said,”Now, it’s six humans , ten chickens and a donkey inside my house. It is so crowded that one can hardly move.” Nasiruddin replied, “You own a goat too, don’t you?” “Yes, I do,” said the man. “Great,” Nasiruddin said. “Take it inside the house too.” The man objected, “How is that going to solve anything?” but Nasiruddin once again convinced him to do as he had said.The next day, the man walked up to Nasiruddin in a state of anger and distress and said, “Your plan has made our lives miserable. The house is now so crowded that we are finding it difficult to even breathe. My family is upset and everyone is complaining about the lack of space.”“Don’t get so upset, friend,” said Nasiruddin. “Go back home and take all the animals back outside.” The man did as he was told.Next day, when the man came across Nasiruddin, he was beaming. He said, “I must thank you, Mulla! Your plan has worked wonders. Now that all the animals are outside, there is enough space in the house for all the family members. Everyone is happy and content with the house now.” Moral:Satisfaction is the key to a content life. Complaining about the situation leads to nowhere.

The crowded home

Timmy and his parents move to a new house. This new house has white picket fences, flowerbeds and a giant backyard. It is away from the noisy, crowded city so Timmy’s parents love it. Timmy’s room is very big and all of his toys fit in properly, so Timmy loves his new house too.But the one thing that Timmy is the most excited about is the park near his house. The community park is just around the corner so Timmy can go to the park and play whenever he wants to.The park in his new neighbourhood is also very big. As his mother sits on a park bench, Timmy makes new friends. They are all his age and will be his future school mates.With them, he goes round and round on the merry go round. All the kids take turns pushing the ride around. They laugh and laugh even as they get tired.In the end, they make pairs to go on the seesaw. Timmy falls of the see saw twice and gets mud in mouth. Along with his new friends, he laughs even as he scrapes his knee.Finally, Timmy’s mother calls him so that they can go home. Timmy is so tired but also very happy. He goes home and cleans himself up as a warm dinner awaits him. He tells his father about his very eventful day and then dreams about going to the park again.
