This means that the child is in some distress. This can be due to emotional, social or physical stress in a child’s life. Generally, frequent irritability without any major reason suggests depression. But never assume things. Look for the possible reasons behind your child’s stress. It can be because of family issues, personal incapability of doing some task due to dyslexia or low IQ, economical issues, child abuse, school issues, or peer issues.
Talk to your child gently about his/her behaviour without being judgemental. With this, if the child is not eating well, not sleeping well or shows any other behaviour changes for a few days, consult a psychiatrist for further evaluation.
