1 result(s) of is passive smoke harmful for babies
How can passive smoking affect a child?
Infants and children who are exposed to second-hand smoke are more prone to breathing problems because babies and children have smaller airways than grownups. They have less mature immune systems than grownups. They are more likely to swallow or breathe in the residual toxins that are left on surfaces/toys/bedsheets/clothing/furniture because they spend a lot of time on or near the floor. Passive smoke can impair the baby's breathing and heart rate, putting the baby at a higher risk of sudden unexpected death in infancy. Passive smoke also causes swelling and irritation in their airways. They are more likely to develop asthma, bronchitis, ear infection due to passive smoke exposure.

Cigarette smoke allergy

Children are exposed to secondhand smoke unknowingly and this can cause problems in later stages of their lives.
