Midas helped the Satyr and asked for his wish to be granted in return.The Satyr agreed and Midas wished for everything he touched to be turned to gold. His wish was granted.Extremely excited, Midas went home to his wife and daughter touching pebbles, rocks, and plants on the way, which turned into gold.As his daughter hugged him, she turned into a golden statue.Having learnt his lesson, Midas begged the Satyr to reverse the spell who granted that everything would go back to their original state.Moral of the story: Stay content and grateful for what you have. He suspected that one of his servants had robbed him.On hearing this, Birbal thought of a clever plan and summoned the merchant’s servants.He gave each servant a stick of the same length. He told them that the thief’s stick would grow two inches by the next day.The next day, Birbal summoned the servants again. He noticed that a servant’s stick was two inches shorter than the others.He knew who the thief was.The foolish thief had cut the stick shorter by two inches as he thought it would grow two inches. Thus, proving his guilt.Moral of the story: Truth and justice will always prevail. <h3>4. Suddenly, two frogs in the group accidentally fell into a deep pit.The other frogs worried about their friends in the pit.Seeing how deep the pit was, they told the two frogs that there was no way they could escape the deep pit and that there was no point in trying.They continued to constantly discourage them as the two frogs tried to jump out of the pit. But keep falling back.Soon, one of the two frogs started to believe the other frogs — that they’ll never be able to escape the pit and eventually died after giving up.The other frog keeps trying and eventually jumps so high that he escapes the pit. The other frogs were shocked at this and wondered how he did it.The difference was that the second frog was deaf and couldn’t hear the discouragement of the group. He simply thought they were cheering him on!Moral of the story: People’s opinion of you will affect you, only if you believe it to be so. It’s better to believe in yourself. <h3>5. The TV was very proud to be the favourite member in the house. The kids loved it, so did the adults. They never stopped admiring the television and abandoned everything else.One day the books on a lonely bookshelf were crying because nobody looked at them anymore.A magic fairy appeared and asked the books what was wrong. The books sobbed, “Nobody likes us anymore. Are we that useless?”The toys in the corner frowned and the newspaper looked sad. Nobody paid any attention to their misery.The fairy felt bad about their state and decided that humans in the house need to be taught a lesson. So she took everything except for the tv and went away.Soon chaos broke out in the house. Everything was unorderly. The children could not find textbooks to study with and there was no radio to get the cricket scores. No newspaper to get the latest news and no toys to play with.The humans realised that their addiction to television shows had led to this and begged for the forgiveness of the fairy.The fairy smiled and returned their materials. Moral:Watching television for a long time is bad for health, there is a huge world outside of that and we must explore the same.

The proud Television

Once upon a time there lived a ferocious lion in the forest. It was a greedy lion and started killing animals in the forest indiscriminately. Seeing this, the animals gathered and decided to approach the lion with the offer of one animal of each species volunteering to be eaten by the lion every day. Every day one of the animals would willingly sacrifice self and in the end came the rabbit’s turn.The rabbits chose an old rabbit among them. The rabbit was wise and old. It took its own sweet time to go to the lion. The lion was getting impatient on not seeing any animal come by and swore to kill all the animals the next day.The rabbit then strode along to the lion by sunset. The Lion was angry with him. The wise rabbit was calm and slowly told the lion that it was not his fault. He told the lion that a group of rabbits were coming to him for the day, when on the way, an angry lion attacked them all and ate all the rabbits but him. Somehow he escaped to reach safely. He said that the other lion was challenging the supremacy of his lordship the lion.The lion was naturally very enraged and asked to be taken to the location of the other lion.The wise rabbit agreed and led the lion towards a deep well filled with water. Then he showed the lion his reflection in the water of the well. The lion was furious and started growling and naturally its image in the water, the other lion, was also equally angry. Then the lion jumped into the water at the other lion to attack it, and so lost its life in the well. Thus the wise rabbit saved the forest and its inhabitants from the proud lion. Moral:Chance favours the prepared mind. The wise rabbit took a chance and exploited lion’s foolishness into saving his own life as well as the life of other animals. Lion, though mighty, lost because of his foolishness.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is known by many names but ‘Iron Man of India’ remains the most popular. Vallabhbhai Patel was a man of his words. As a child, he was very humble but still, the signs of his strong character and determination were reflected. Numerous incidents made him the iron man of India. He was strong mentally and physically. During his childhood, many incidents made him earn the reputation of the Iron man. Once he had a boil on his armpit and in those days, there was a man in his village who used to cure that. To cure the boil, the man used to heat an iron rod and put it on the boil area of the body. Vallabhbhai Patel too went to the man to cure his boil. Putting the iron rod was painful and so the man did the process slowly as Sardar was a kid. But the young Patel asked the man to do it fast as the rod will become cold. Then he did not wait for the man to do that lashing and took the rod and did it himself. That was when young Patel stunned everyone in the village. He was tough and he was hard working. He borrowed books from lawyers and within a time limit of two years, he completed his studies. He was physically very strong from his tender gaze. As the first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of India, he took up the task of integrating the princely states into the Republic of India at the request of Mahatma Gandhi. With his strong personality and belief, Sardar Patel managed to achieve the impossible task of unifying India. This strong personality will be forever known as the ‘Iron Man of India’.

There was a fox called Dabbu. One day, he was very happy after having a hearty meal. He had seen the lion going for a stroll after his meal and had gone into the lion’s den and gorged on the remains of the lion’s feast. It was a scrumptious meal of deer meat. “I wish I was lucky enough to have such a feast every day,” Dabbu thought. Dabbu started walking, looking at the clear sky, singing his favourite song, much contented with his lovely meal. He thought about film heroes and how they would sing and walk like this when they were in love.Dabbu wasn’t in love, but he thought that the emotional satisfaction obtained from a good meal was no less than the feeling of being in love. Dabbu’s eyes were almost filled with tears as myriad emotional thoughts crossed his mind, when he suddenly found himself falling into something really deep.“Dhuuummm, dhumm,” the sound came, and Dabbu understood that he was in trouble. On looking around he realized that he had fallen into a shallow well. He was lucky that there wasn’t much water in the well. It was a wide mouthed well that Dabbu had noticed every day while passing by it. It was only today that he was lost in his thoughts and had simply overlooked it. Dabbu was really angry at himself for being so foolish and careless and wanted to hit himself.He tried his best to get out of the well by climbing on its walls, but all in vain as the walls were too slippery. Frustrated, he waited for someone to come to help.Suddenly, Dabbu heard a squeaky voice, “What on earth are you doing down there?” Dabbu looked up and much to his relief he found Laadla the goat standing at the mouth of the well. He was a young and gullible goat. Dabbu knew that Laadla was innocent and ignorant of the world, as he was always asking very irritating questions. Dabbu was determined to get out of the well using Laadla’s help. It has never been difficult for a fox to fool a goat. He said, “Aren’t you aware that there has been a huge drought in the northern part of Bihar (they lived in a jungle in Bihar)?” “Really? I haven’t heard of any such thing” said the innocent goat. Dabbu replied, “That’s strange. Shantaram crow gave me the news this morning and he has also seen it with his own eyes as he was travelling from the same area. That is why I jumped into this well to save some water for myself.”“Oh God, how terrible!” exclaimed Laadla and jumped into the well in no time. As soon as Laadla jumped into the well, Dabbu climbed on his long horns and jumped out of the well. Dabbu said, “You are such a silly creature. You are not even aware that there have been floods all around the northern part of the country, and you believed my story of a drought. Instead of talking about a frog in a well, now people will talk about a goat in a well.”Laadla was stupefied and said to himself, “One should never trust anyone blindly.” Moral:One should never trust anyone blindly. Always use your wisdom and analyse the situation before putting in your trust.

It also describes the challenges faced by Lord Rama, Laxaman, and Sita when they were exiled from the kingdom for 14 years. Following is a story from “The Ramayana”.After the incarnation of Lord Vishnu as Rama in Tretayug, the next one called Dwaparayug entered in which Lord reincarnated as Krishna. Before this, Sheshnag has made another request to the Lord Vishnu that he wants to be an elder brother this time and would like to instruct the lord. As wished, he was born as Balram, Krishna’s elder brother.Laxman was the incarnation of Sheshnag, Lord Vishnu’s seat. Laxman had complained all his life being born as the younger brother who he had to obey all the commands of Ram. His wish to be the elder brother was fulfilled when he was born as Balram.

But, the king was never happy with what he had and was always on a mission to expand his empire by conquering other kingdoms. One day, he set out on a mission to conquer a distant country. The king and his soldiers walked the entire morning in the forest. By evening, all of them were exhausted and thus halted near a lake to take some rest. The horses were also tired, so the soldiers fed them some peas. A monkey living in the forest was eyeing the delicious peas being fed to the horses. He jumped down from the tree, grabbed a handful of peas and scampered back to the tree. As he sat down comfortably on a branch and started to eat the peas, one small pea slipped from his hand and fell on the ground. Without thinking even once, the greedy monkey dropped all the peas he had in his hands, and ran down to look for the lost pea. Unfortunately, the monkey could not find that pea. He kept looking for the pea for some more time and then climbed back the tree empty handed. His greed had made him lose all that he had.The king was watching the monkey with great interest. Wisdom dawned on him and he realised that his want for more may leave him with nothing one day. He said to himself, “I will not be like this foolish monkey, who lost much to gain a little. I will go back to my own country and enjoy what I have.” So, the next day he ordered his men to march back home. Moral:We should try to be happy with whatever we have and not be greedy and foolish.

Of course, the Lord was playing a role on earth as a human, so he had to display human emotions.Lord Shiva and Mother Sati came across this scene. Lord Shiva bowed down to his Lord Rama. Mother Sati asked why he was bowing down? Lord Shiva answered because he is the Supreme Lord.Mother Sati said that he is crying like humans, how can he be God? I want to test him. Lord Shiva agreed but asked Mother Sati to stay within her principles. Mother Sati changed herself into the form of Mother Sita and appeared in front of Lord Ram, trying to confuse and fool him. Lord Ram knew she was Mother Sati and greeted her and asked her where Lord Shiva was? She was ashamed and closed her eyes. But even as her eyes were closed, Lord Rama gave her darshan along with Mother Sita.

One day, a rich merchant came to Birbal, the Wise. He said to Birbal, "I have seven servants in my house. One of them has stolen my bag of precious pearls. Please find out the thief."So Birbal went to the rich man's house. He called all the seven servants in a room. He gave a stick to each one of them. Then he said, “These are magic sticks. All these sticks are equal in length. Keep them with you and return them to me tomorrow. If there is a thief in the house, his stick will grow an inch longer by tomorrow."The servant who had stolen the bag of pearls was frightened. He thought, "If I cut a piece of one inch from my stick, I won't be caught." So he cut the stick and made it short by an inch.The next day Birbal collected the sticks from the servants. He found that one servant's stick was short by an inch. Birbal pointed his finger at him and said, "Here is the thief." The servant confessed his crime.He returned the bag of pearls and was sent to jail. Moral:The wise can figure out the simplest of ways to solve any problem.
