precautions to take during breastfeeding for a diabetic mother

1 result(s) of precautions to take during breastfeeding for a diabetic mother
diabetes and breast feeding
A diabetic mother can breastfeed the baby just like a normal mother. Your baby will not get diabetes if you breastfeed him/her. If you have diabetes, you should keep the following points in mind for your health: 1. Plan to have a snack before or during nursing. 2. Drink enough fluids (plan to sip a glass of water or a caffeine-free drink while nursing). 3. Keep something to treat low blood glucose nearby when you nurse, so you don’t have to stop your child’s feeding. 4. Most medications used to treat diabetes can be safely used during nursing, but be sure to check with your doctor.
