Once a saint had a disciple who used to live in a small town. One day, the disciple was going somewhere. He hadn't gone too far when suddenly it started raining cats and dogs. He returned and told this problem to his saint. The saint said, "You should have faith in God. He will save you from all problems."The disciple obeyed and resumed his journey. He kept reciting the name of God and cleared all the hurdles.Next day, the saint had to go on the same route. When he reach ed a deep drain, he doubted whether God would save him or not. Just when the saint had started walking again, he drowned in the deep drain. Moral:Faith in God and Doubt on God never go hand in hand.

There was once a baby camel who used to live with her mother. One day, the baby camel was lost in deep thought when she was lying on the ground with her mother. The mother saw her and asked what was wrong with her. The baby camel said nothing.The baby camel could not resist anymore and the next day, she said, “Mom, why do the camels have humps?” The mother smiled and said, “Well, the humps help us to store the water for days. As we are desert animals, we can survive without water because of our humps.”The baby camel had many questions to ask. She then asked, “Why do camels have long legs and rounded feet?” The mother replied, “They help us in walking in the hot desert. The long legs and rounded feet help the camel walk in the desert better than anyone else.” The curious baby camel then asked, “Mom, why do we have long eyelashes? Sometimes it bothers my sight.” Mother camel replied with pride, “My baby, these long thick eyelashes are your protective cover. The help us in protecting our eyes from the desert sand and wind.”The baby camel was again lost in her thoughts. After thinking for a while, she said, “Well, we have humps that help us in storing the water when we are in desert, the long legs help us in walking through the desert and these big eyelashes protect our eyes from the desert then what in god’s name are we doing here in the Zoo?”. The mother camel could not answer this question and become speechless. Moral:The moral for parents to take away from this story is to always try and answer your child’s question. If you don’t, your child will never be curious again. To some questions, you might not be able to give a satisfactory answer. At that moment tell them that you will get back to this question when they are of the age or when it is the right time.

Once, Akbar and Birbal happened to pass through some cabbage fields while riding on their horses. Looking at the cabbages, Akbar said to Birbal, “What a delicious vegetable the cabbage is! I like it very much.” Birbal immediately seconded Akbar’s opinion and said, “Huzoor, You have a royal taste in vegetables as well. The cabbage is the king of the vegetables. It ideally befits your status.”Some days later, they rode past the same cabbage fields again. This time Akbar frowned at the very sight of the cabbages and said, “This cabbage is such a tasteless vegetable! I wonder how people swallow it down their throats.” Birbal replied, “I agree with you Huzoor, It is indeed difficult to even look at such a tasteless vegetable.”Just then, Akbar remembered that the last time they had been there, Birbal was all praise for the vegetable and now he had totally changed his opinion. He asked Birbal, “Birbal, I don’t understand. Last time when we came here, you said that the cabbage was a royal vegetable, and today you are saying that it is even difficult to look at such a tasteless vegetable. What do you mean by that?”Birbal bowed his head and said, “Huzoor, it means that I am your servant, and not of the cabbage.” Moral:People who work for you can be loyal to a fault and are likely to favour you instead of giving you the full truth.

Once upon a time there lived a famous samurai warrior who was known for his skills in battle. He was strong, intelligent and sharp.But the samurai was also very impatient.One day he was sent on a mission with some other warriors but his impatience messed it up.The King was very disappointed but he wanted to give this very talented person another chance.He sends the samurai to a monk. The samurai does not wish to go but obeys the orders.The monk lives high up in the mountains and treated the samurai with none of the respect he was used to.He forces the samurai to make straw hats.Day and night the samurai sits and make hats of straw. He is tired and bored. He does not see how the stupid hats would be anything beneficial to him.After all, the samurai is a valuable member of the King’s army. He should be practising, protecting his country, not making giant hats. He wanted to argue and tell the monk to stop this but he decided to patiently make hats until told otherwise.That was until on a very hot day he was called back to the capital.By that time, he had created hundreds of straw hats. He took one since it was a very hot day to travel. The hat protected him from the heat or he would have fainted in the hot journey.The samurai realised that after months of handling delicate needles, his sword skill had also become more precise.The samurai was no longer just strong but also wiser and more patient.

The warrior who learns patience

Once, a village merchant named Vardhmanaka was going to Mathura on his bullock cart. His two bullocks, Sanjeevaka and Nandaka, who had always served him faithfully, were pulling the cart. As they were walking along the bank of river the Yamuna, Sanjeevaka all of a sudden stepped into a marshy area and got stuck. He tried to get out of the marsh with all his strength. The merchant also tried to get Sanjeevaka out of the marsh, but nothing worked. Ultimately, Vardhmanaka was left with no choice but to leave Sanjeevaka there and go on with his journey. So, Sanjeevaka was left there, stuck in the marsh. He thought sadly, “I served my master faithfully throughout my life and this is how he has treated me. Now, there were only two options for Sanjeevaka—either to try with all his might to escape from the marsh or to give up and die there. He thought, “It is said that God helps those who help themselves. I will not give up. I will try my best to get out of this marsh.” So, Sanjeevaka used every bit of his strength and energy to struggle against the marsh that was pulling him down, and finally he managed to get out of it.Now, Sanjeevaka had nowhere to go. He did not want to return to his master’s house after his master had deserted him so heartlessly. So, he started walking along the banks of the river. He wandered about, eating fresh grass in the nearby forest and drinking water from the river. Soon, living in the natural environment, he regained his strength and became healthier than ever. He started bellowing like a lion. His bellows sounded like thunder and could be heard from miles away.One day, the king lion of the forest, Pingalaka, went to the river to drink water. There, he heard the thunder-like bellowing which scared him so much that he ran back to his cave at once. His ministers were two jackals, Damnaka and Kartaka. When Damnaka saw that the king seemed to be afraid of something, he went and asked the king about it. “What is the matter, my lord? Has something scared you?” he asked. “Tell me, and I will bring it in front of you at once.”Though the lion, being the king, did not want to admit his fears, he ultimately told Damnaka about the frightening thunder-like sound. Damnaka at once left to investigate the source of the sound. Soon, Damnaka brought Sanjeevaka to the court and said, “This is the animal who has been making those frightful sounds, My Lord. He says that Lord Shiva has sent him to roam around in our forest.”King Pingalaka was pleased to meet Sanjeevaka. Soon, they became friends and spent most of their time chatting with each other. Gradually, the lion started becoming more and more spiritual. He started neglecting his kingdom and even stopped hunting for his prey. This made Damnaka, Kartaka and his other subjects very worried.Then, Damnaka came up with a plan. He went up to the king and said, “My lord, Sanjeevaka has evil plans about your kingdom. He plans to kill you, take over your kingdom and become the king himself.”And the next day, he went to Sanjeevaka and said, “King lion is no true friend of yours. He has planned to kill you and distribute your flesh to the whole kingdom. You should kill him with your sharp horns before he kills you.”Sanjeevaka was very furious on hearing this. He went to the king’s court and started bellowing in a thundering tone. The lion, who had already been misinformed by Damaka as to Sanjeevaka’s intentions, was himself very furious. Like a flash, the lion pounced on Sanjeevaka with a loud roar.Both, Pingalaka and Sanjeevaka, were strong. They had a gruesome fight at the end of which, Pingalaka killed Sanjeevaka with his sharp claws and ate his flesh. Though he had killed Sanjeevaka, Pingalaka felt sad about it. Sanjeevaka had been is friend. But since Damnaka had convinced him that Sanjeevaka was a traitor, he had no choice but to kill him. Damnaka was later made the chief minister of the kingdom. Moral:One should never be friends with a natural enemy.

One day, a man climbed up a tree. While climbing up, he did not realise how tall the tree actually was and kept climbing up. On reaching the top, when the man looked down, he realised that climbing down from the tree would not be as easy as climbing up. He could not think of any way of getting down without injuring himself seriously.He asked the people who were passing by to help him. But nobody could think of a way of bringing him down safely. Soon, quite a few people gathered around the tree and tried to help the man, but no one knew what to do. The man remained stuck on top of the tree.Just then, Nasiruddin, who was walking by, saw this scene and wondered what was going on. The people standing around the tree told Nasiruddin about the situation. “Oh!” Nasiruddin said, “I’ll get him down in no time.” He took a long rope and threw one end of it up to the man telling him to tie the rope around his waist.Everyone wondered what Nasiruddin’s plan was. When one of them asked him, Nasiruddin replied, “Just leave it to me. It’s a foolproof plan.”When the man on the tree had tied the rope tightly around his waist, Nasiruddin pulled the rope with all his force. As soon as Nasiruddin did this, the man fell down from the tree and hurt himself badly. The bystanders were shocked at this. They turned to Nasiruddin and asked, “What were you thinking? What kind of a silly plan was that?”Nasiruddin replied, “Well, once I did exactly the same thing and saved someone’s life.”One man asked him, “Is that true?”“Absolutely!” replied Nasiruddin, “The only thing I cannot remember is whether I saved him from a tree or from a well.” Moral:To act without putting much thought often ends up causing more damage than good.

Before he knew it, he had tied himself into one massive knot, and he couldn't move. He tried with all his strength to wriggle free, but it was no good. In the end, despite the great embarrassment he felt at being seen in such a tangle, he had to ask for help from the passing fish. Many fish swam past, ignoring him, but one very kind little fish offered to help to untie all those tentacles from all those suckers.The octopus felt heartily relieved when he was finally set free, but he was so shy that he didn't dare talk to the fish and make friends with him. He simply thanked the fish, and quickly swam off. Later, the octopus spent the whole night thinking that he had wasted a great opportunity to make friends with that very kind little fish.A couple of days later the octopus was resting between some rocks, when he noticed that everyone around was hurriedly swimming past. He looked into the distance and saw an enormous fish coming over to feed in that area. The octopus quickly hid; then, peeping an eye out from his hiding place, he saw that the huge fish was chasing the kind little fish who had untied him. That little fish really needed urgent help, but the big fish was so dangerous-looking that no one dared to go near. The octopus, remembering how the little fish had helped him, felt that he had to do whatever he could to come to his aid.Without hesitating, the octopus shot out from the rocks, like a ray. He put himself right in the path of the giant fish, and before the fish could do anything about it, the octopus had shot out the biggest jet of ink of his life. He grabbed the little fish, and swam off back to hide in the rocks. Everything happened so fast that the big fish had no time to react. However, he soon recovered from the surprise. Off he went to the rocks, looking for the octopus and the little fish. Now he really wanted to gobble them down!Soon, though, he began feeling a terrible itch; first in his gills, and then in his fins, and then all over his body. It turned out that this giant fish had a very artistic nature, he adored colours; and the octopus's dark ink had given him a terrible allergy!!So the big fish swam away, irritated all over.As soon as he was gone, all the fish who had been hiding came and congratulated the octopus for being so brave. Then the little fish told them all how he had helped the octopus a few days earlier, but he had never known anyone be so grateful that they would end up doing something so dangerous. Hearing this, the other fish discovered how nice the shy octopus was, and everyone around was keen to be the friend of such a brave and honourable octopus.Moral: Never leave an opportunity to show gratitude no matter how much difficult the situation seems.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
