Lord Rama distributed gifts to all the Vanaras who had served as warriors in his army.&nbsp;Sri Rama noticed his fervent devotee, Hanumanji and asked, ìOh mighty hero how am I to compensate you for all you have done for me and my family?î Many would have wanted wealth, name or fame, approbation or recognition or VIP line in return for their services. But Sri Hanuman was above all these, and said, ìI desire nothing, Prabhu.î Then, Maa Sita removed a valuable necklace of pearls from her neck and offered it to the humble Sri Hanuman.Sri Hanuman received the necklace with great respect from Maa Sita, but began to break the pearls with his teeth. Sita, and other ministers who were sitting in the council hall, were quite astonished at this queer act of Sri Hanuman. Some wondered why the noble and great warrior Sri Hanuman was behaving like this. Maa Sita asked Hanuman, ìOh mighty Hero! What are you doing?î Sri Hanuman said, ìOh venerable Mother! It is the most valuable necklace, indeed, as it has come to me through your holy hand, but I want to find out whether any of the pearls contain Lord Rama's name. I do not keep a thing devoid of him. I do not find him in any of the pearls.îAt this, one of the assembly members ironically remarked, ìYou would not wear anything that does not have the name of Rama. Well, you are wearing your body. You are carrying it about with you. Prove to us that you have the name in it.î Hanuman laughed aloud, he said, ìI shall prove, see.î Sri Hanuman then tore his chest open with his mighty hands and Lord Sri Rama and Maa Sita were seated in his heart. Lord Rama came down the throne and embraced Hanuman with his blessings.

When he met Ravana, he was very old. He was the King of the vultures but not very strong at that time. He saw that Sita was in trouble, and Jatayu did not hesitate a moment to serve her.Jatayu flew off into the sky to fight Ravana because he wanted to serve Lord Rama. He said, ìMy body is of no value if it is not used in the service of the Lord. The Lord's most precious mother Sita is being kidnapped. It is my duty to stop this.So Jatayu fought with Ravana and gave him a good run. He made it so difficult for Ravana for a while thinking that mother Sita was going to be out of the trap of this demon king. But then Ravana regained his strength. Ravana chopped and somehow severed the wings and limbs of Jatayu. Jatayu fell in the midst of a heap of blood and his life was slowly going away.When Jatayu was losing his life, Lord Rama and Lakshman came there. Seeing Jatayu, they thought that he must be the demon trying to catch Sita. So they approached with caution. When they saw Jatayu actually dying because of Ravana, Lord Rama's heart was in pain. Jatayu told Rama, ìMy dear Lord, please forgive me that I could not execute my service to the best of my ability. I failed in my service.

Following is a story from “The Ramayana”.Ravana, the king demon was the ruler of Lanka. He had ten heads and twenty arms. He had heard many stories about Ram’s wife, Sita’s beauty. He spied Sita in the forest and instantly fell in love with her. He decided to kidnap Sita and bring her to Lanka. He made a plan to abduct her and went to his uncle, Mareecha, a demon and asked for his help. Mareecha had the power to transform himself in any form and even change his voice. According to the plan, Mareecha transformed himself into a golden deer. Ravan went and hid near the hermitage where Sita was staying with ram and Lakshman.When Sita saw the beautiful deer, she was fascinated by its beauty and asked Ram to bring it for her. Ram had never seen a deer like him before. Laksham warned Ram that the deer might be a demon in disguise. But Sita was fascinated by the deer so, Ram went after the deer. Ram asked Laxman to stay with Sita and protect her. The deer ran deeper and deeper in the forest and Ram followed it. Finally, Ram aimed an arrow at the deer’s heart and shot it. When the arrow struck the deer, it transformed itself back into the Mareecha. Mareecha cried out to Laxman for help in Ram’s voice. When Sita heard Ram’s voice, she begged Laxman to go and see if Ram was in trouble.Laxman was in dilemma. On one hand, he promised Ram to stay with Sita and on the other hand, he was worried about his brother Ram. So, Laxman drew a line around the hut with his arrow and told Sita not to step out of the line. He then left to look out for Ram. Meanwhile, Ravana was hiding nearby and heard Laxman and Sita talking. Ravana quickly disguised himself into an old beggar. He begged Sita for food and water. Sita took pity on him and stepped out of the circle. The beggar man turned back into Ravana, catching Sita in his arms and pulling her into his magic flying chariot. Ravana forcefully dragged her into his flying chariot and took her away to Lanka.

There is a story behind how he got the name ‘Bajrang Bali’.One day, Hanuman saw Sita applying something on her forehead. He was curious to know what she was applying on her forehead. So, he asked, “What are you applying on your forehead.” Sita replied, “I am applying vermilion (sindoor).” Hanuman again asked, “But what is the reason behind it?” Sita replied that it was a ritual that would result in longer and healthier life of Ram. As Hanuman was a big devotee of Ram, he also wanted to do something for a healthier and longer life of Lord Ram. So, he covered his entire body with vermillion. When lord ram saw Hanuman covered in vermillion, he laughed and named him ‘Bajrang Bali’. The word Bajrang Bali comes from the word Bajrang which means ‘Orange’ and Bali meaning ‘Strong”.

Following is a story from “The Ramayana”.It is a well-known fact that Sita was the daughter of King Janaka. Mandodari was the daughter of Mayasura, the King of the Asuras (demons), and the apsara (celestial nymphs) Hema. Mandodari bears two sons after marrying Ravana, Meghanada (Indrajit) and Akshayakumara. But Mandodari is also the mother of Sita, according to one of the references in Adbhuta Ramayana. It is believed that Ravana used to store the blood of all the saints he killed in a large pot. One of the sages, Gritsamada stored milk obtained from the sacred darbha grass in a pot to practise penance and to have Goddess Lakshmi as his daughter. Ravana got a hold of the milk pot by sneaking into Gritsamada’s house and poured the milk into his pot of blood. Mandodari got so offended by this evil act that she decided to commit suicide by drinking the contents of the pot. After drinking from that pot, Mandodari did not die. Instead, she became pregnant with Sita. After Sita’s birth, who is one of the incarnations of Goddess Lakshmi, Mandodari left the baby in Kurukshetra, and that is how King Janaka found Sita.
